REVIEWED: Spymo’s ALIEN-MAN.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a review on the site and I’ve been wanting to write about this item for a long time. Believe me, this one is a beauty! Today, for your reading pleasure we have the ever elusive Spymo ALIEN-MAN. A bootleg figure of considerable reputation but up until recently was exceptionally difficult to find.This wonderful fan favorite action figure has been made available once again under the most fortuitous of circumstances. I’ve been able to purchase one and it’s review is now available for your enjoyment.

Eaglemoss Neomorph Pre-Order Now Available.

I loved ALIEN: Covenant and the new hostile creatures it brought to the ALIEN universe were perfect. The pallid Neomorphs were a highlight of the film, regardless of what anyone thought of the movie. It looks like Eaglemoss will be adding one to their great range of ALIEN and PREDATOR figurines.

Estimated to arrive sometime in September 2018, the 1/16 scale figurine is made from specially formulated metallic resin and includes an information packed character pamphlet. Nice. If you want one of these pieces of ugliness in your life (You do, I know you do – otherwise you wouldn’t be visiting this site, right?) then it’s available as a pre-order from Big Bad Toy Store.

Prototype Gallery Update – 1979 Kenner ALIEN Unprinted Box.

It’s a box. With nothing on it. So? So what..? What’s the big deal with that, then?

That’s what makes it so special. Such blank unprinted boxes were made in 1979 for testing purposes by Kenner. About 8 of these blank boxes are known to have survived. Considering the action figure can sell for upwards of $400 when present in a normal retail box and they are easy to acquire the absolute scarcity of this blank package and its relationship to the figure prior to it being released to retail makes this item special.

It’s now been added to the page dedicated to prototypes of Kenner’s original 1979 ALIEN action figure. Go check it out – that page is growing nicely.

Today we explore a very special item in the history of Kenner’s ALIEN production heritage of action figures. Presenting the little known 1990 3.75 inch Alien Warrior.

Find out why this unproduced action figure can be regarded as Kenner’s very own ‘missing link’ in their history of ALIEN toy production. Over a dozen images featuring 3 different samples of this obscure prototype along with other rare associated materials can be found on its gallery page.

Super7 Secret BLIND BOX Figure Revealed.

Super7’s secret ALIEN ReAction figure has been revealed. The SuperNova variant in their recently released blind box SPACE VILLAIN Series 2 is a honey coloured figure with gold flecks.

These 3.75 inch retro inspired ALIEN ReAction figures are now available direct from Super7’s online store. There’s 4 in the set. A small gallery of them appears below, from left to right: Dwarf Star, Space Dust, Blood Moon; and the previously unknown item, SuperNova. All neat looking pieces.

NECA’s exclusive purple Alien warrior hybrid is now available for pre-order. You will need to be a member of NECA’s Club X program to be able to take advantage of this offer.

Unfortunately, only Club X members can pre-order this item, so if you want one and like me are not a member, then tough. Here’s a brief description from NECA: The classic Kenner Tribute Purple Warrior is the perfect match for the 6-piece Kenner Tribute Diorama that club members received earlier this year. Eaglemoss Xenomorph King Pre-Order.

Eaglemoss have announced pre-orders are now available for the 3rd figurine in their Special Series of large figurines. The Rogue Xenomorph King is 24cm (9.5 inches) and expected to ship sometime in April, 2018.

Here’s what Eaglemoss have to say about this upcoming release, “Inspired by the acclaimed Aliens: Rogue comic book, the latest Special Issue in the Alien and Predator Figurine Collection is the imposing Xenomorph King.

Standing a massive 24 cm tall the Rogue Xenomorph King Figurine strikes a pose of determination emphasised as he rises to watch over the six detailed alien eggs that swarm around his clawed feet. Super7 have announced the release date for their upcoming series 2 of Popy inspired 3.75 inch tall Blind Box SPACE VILLAIN ReAction figures assortment. They’re being released tomorrow!* …Well, the day after actually. Release date is officially Wednesday – 14th at 12:00 Noon PST. They will be available online from the Super7 Webstore.

As many of us were anticipating these items to be released in late April (4/26… Geddit?) matching the release date of the first series, it’s a welcome surprise to see these released mid March instead. 4 different ALIEN figures will be available, one concealed in each box. Continue reading →

Prototype Gallery Update: Action Masters Alien.

Enough fun and games with Super7’s faux ALIENS goodies. Let’s look at some real ALIENS prototype figures, shall we? We’re constantly adding new content to this area of HIDEOUS PLASTIC dedicated to a visual documentation of Kenner ALIEN prototypes of all kinds, shapes and sizes. Let’s move onto the latest ones, then.

2016 Super7 ‘Prototype’ Figure Interview.

Just thought I’d toss this little item on the front page. It’s been a long time since I first read it. It’s an interview posted on Action Figure Insider a little less than 2 years ago. Super7 announced the first in the series of upcoming SUPER SIZE action figures based on the original 1979 Kenner ALIEN but adopting a more ALIENS flavour.

The 18 inch tall 1986 ‘prototype’ figure – more accurately a limited edition tribute item – was eventually released at San Diego Comic Con in 2016. It has since been followed up by 2 other versions by Super7 last year in the form of the ‘Classic Toy Edition’ and the ‘Acid Green Edition’. More are scheduled to follow, possibly sometime this year. NECA Batman vs ‘Joker’ Alien 2 Pack Cancelled..?

The word is slowly making its way across Facebook and various other social media that NECA may have cancelled all pre-orders for their highly anticipated Batman vs Alien action figure 2 pack. While such reports of the figures being cancelled are coming from customers with extant pre-orders being closed down, it looks like News of these figures not being released isn’t all doom and gloom. NECA may simply be restricting the availability of these items “due to limitations from our licensor”. They may not be cancelled entirely; but instead of general release through retail outlets as was originally anticipated, it looks like these 2 will only be available as a convention exclusive. H. R. GIGER’S ALIEN Resin Kit.

RESIN REALITIES have a super looking resin kit of the Alien based on one of H.R. Giger’s early designs of the creature.The item is cast in 8 resin pieces and when assembled, stands a good 15 inches tall on a base with name plate. This does look mighty impressive. I’ve seen other garage resin kits of Giger’s pre-production vision of the creature and this looks as good as any of them.

You can purchase this item directly from the manufacturer for what I consider to be a reasonable price of US$160 for such a unique and limited quantity production item in the 15 inch range. Shipping is free if you live in the US. Continue reading →
