NECA Release New Space Marine Drake Images.

Facehugger Friday is upon us and today’s reveal from NECA sees a pair of package images of Space Marine Drake action figure released on Facebook. Space Marine Drake is another NECA tribute figure based on the old 1990s Kenner toy of the same name. He looks neat even if he more closely resembles Pvt. Hicks rather than Drake on the packaging art. Anyway, here’s what NECA have to say about the imminent release of this item, “The 7″ scale Kenner Homage Drake Action Figure is packed up and ready to take on the Rhino Alien! You can expect this figure to start shipping on April 14th.” Personally, I’m not all that interested in the human ALIENS characters NECA are releasing but this does look sweet and just a tad ludicrous with the double bayonet mounted smartgun. lol. Have fun with this when it is released in a week or so.

eBay – Rare Canadian Kenner ALIEN and Box for Sale.

UPDATE. This item is now sold. Oddly, this rare sample of the Kenner ALIEN toy took months to sell and went for a reduced price of US$650, around half of its original list price.

Are you looking for a 1979 Kenner ALIEN, complete with box, insert and a dozen or so other goodies? Then now’s a good opportunity to purchase a genuinely rare vintage item packed with bonus vintage goodies on eBay. This one is available from Canada and is listed for only US$1,200. Bargain!No, really. This item is a Bargain, despite the obviously loose lower right dorsal appendage hanging off it’s back. Serious collectors of the vintage toy, take note this is a very rare item. Now, I hear people say the Kenner ALIEN toy is rare, anyway but it’s actually not. Notwithstanding the fact these toys are now forty years old, the US pressing of the toy is relatively common. This item is from Canada – and that’s important because there are significant differences between the toy made and shipped within the US; and those made and shipped elsewhere awarding this particular sample the enviable status of being genuinely rare! HIDEOUS PLASTIC – Final Proof Arrives.

This document arrived in the mail yesterday. It is the final proof copy of HIDEOUS PLASTIC – In stores everyone can hear you scream. This galley proof is for my evaluation and approval and is effectively a test print of the finished publication readers can expect to be receiving soon. At this stage, I anticipate there will be no more corrections or additions to be made and the only remaining action required will be to instruct my publisher to tell the printer to press the button and set the presses into motion. We are now that close to publishing.

Today is April 1st but this is no joke. I am now on the threshold of actually publishing this book dedicated to the 1979 Kenner ALIEN toy. Last year, I ran an April Fool’s Day gag about the book being SOLD OUT. I received enough correspondence from disgruntled fans who thought they’d missed out on purchasing the book for me to be discouraged from duplicating that action. Nope. I am not going to ‘pull your tail’ again this year. I don’t think it would be fair. Besides, we all have enough challenges on our plates simply coping with a world wide threat to everyone’s health without that kind of unnecessary shenanigans. This is the real deal, folks. It’s running later than intended but it’s still making progress, to inch across that finish line and will be heading to you soon.

This book should be available in a few weeks. That is to say, if no more delays impede any further progress. While that is unlikely at this stage, we must yet face uncertain days and months ahead which we all must embrace; and anything conceivable (or otherwise) may yet happen. Stay safe. Stay indoors. Stay healthy.
