eBay – Kenner ALIEN Limbs.

A small selection of 1979 Kenner ALIEN toy limbs has become available on eBay. Three pieces in total, all listed individually including a right arm and both legs. Perfectly fine pieces if you are looking for parts needed to complete a sample of the toy currently missing these parts. All pieces appear to be clean and complete with some wear from normal use. Here’s a few links if you are interested in purchasing either or all of these parts.

US$59.99 – Right arm. All six fingers are attached and the rubber anchor appears to be unbroken. The blunt elbow spur is also present. These features can all be damaged but they’re all good here.
US$44.99 – Left leg. Complete with the spindle needed to attach it to the toy’s hip in good and unbroken condition
US$44.99 – Right leg. As above. Complete with unbroken spindles in good condition.

eBay – Kenner & AMT Kit for Sale.

This nice pair of vintage ALIEN items is available on eBay right now. If you’re looking for a bargain, then up for grabs in a single listing is a 1979 Kenner ALIEN toy and a 1999 AMT ERTL ALIEN kit. Bidding starts at US$200 or you can buy both now for US$275. The older Kenner toy is lacking the commonly missing parts, head dome, dorsal crest and the lower part of the tongue. Nothing new there. He’s a little dusty but his jaw activation still works. Arms are loose but still attached. The arms float a little outside the shoulder sockets; but just having the arms attached either by original rubber anchors or via third party repair method doesn’t detract from them being present and seated in place and not missing altogether. A generally nice figure that could benefit from a good clean with soapy water and a toothbrush. The 1999 AMT ERTL ALIEN kit also included in this offerieng is new and still wrapped in original shrink wrap. It is a re-release of the original 1979 MPC ALIEN kit and is a relatively common and easy to find item. Nonetheless, an unopened sample is a worthy addition to any ALIEN collection. Well, both of these figures would be welcome. A great pair of items and priced to sell quick.

More information regarding the AMT ERTL kit can be found here on HIDEOUS PLASTIC.

ALIEN Romulus – Popcultcha NECA Pre-Order.

As a resident of Australia, it always excites me to see any ALIEN content released in this country. A lot of content simply does not make it to these shores but luckily, there are some independent specialty stores that will provide some much anxiety reducing relief in this regard. Once again, Popcultcha has stepped up and already listed pre-orders for the upcoming ALIEN Romulus 7 inch scale Reel Toys action figures

Here’s a couple of links directly to the pre-order pages:

Aside from confirmation of being available in Australia, we now have some other details of significant note. The price for these items will be Au$79.99 each but a sweet pre-order Au$8 discount incentive is being applied to these items. It would also probably be a good idea to pre-order these items anyway as we have seen the madness surrounding the ALIEN Romulus popcorn buckets escalate wildly to hundreds of (US) dollars due to scarcity of product and scalpers buying them in bulk to flog on eBay. …and NECA didn’t even make those buckets! The other welcome detail we have gleaned from Popcultcha is the release date. These items are expected to become available in January 2025, around six months from now. Needless to say, I’ll be looking forward to seeing these things get released here.

ALIEN Romulus – Phoenix Rising Cosmetics.

Looking to express yourself with some ALIEN Romulus themed make up? Sure. go ahead. Phoenix Rising Cosmetics have announced pre-orders for their officially licenced range of make up. It appears they will be releasing two palettes containing a range of colours. The facehugger palette features ‘future’, ‘parasite’, ‘scream’ and ‘space’ themes while the Alien (Covenant) head boasts shades of ‘heroine’, ‘slime’, ‘terrifying’, ‘synthetic’, ‘alarm’ and ‘scavenger’. Someone definitely had way too much fun designing these palettes and tones.

I’ve never worn make up in in my life. Got nothing against it – just never felt the need to do so. Nonetheless, this looks like a quality product. Phoenix Rising state their fully licenced product lines, of which the ALIEN Romulus make up collection is one of many, “…are also highly pigmented & super long lasting as they were specifically formulated for stage and screen.” I’m good with that.

eBay – Tsukuda Hobby & Super7 Figures.

Usually when I post about items being sold on eBay, I simply focus on the 1979 Kenner ALIEN toys currently available. …and believe me, for a forty plus year old toy that is often listed as rare, there appears to be a significant number of them available at any time I search on eBay. Eh… They’re not rare. Not by a long shot. Anyway, today I’m posting something different yet still inexorably connected to the notorious 1979 Kenner ALIEN toy. This post is dedicated to a Tsukuda Hobby ALIEN being sold along with a a pair of Super7 ALIENS ReAction figures. All of these figures are listed together for US$150 and they each have a story to tell. Marvelous! I love it!
First up, let’s tackle the Big Chap. This isn’t a bootleg. It’s a legitimately licenced item. This large figure is a Tsukuda Hobby action figure from 1995 and is indirectly derived from the older 1979 Kenner ALIEN action figure which I frequently post about on this page. Anyway, this 1995 ALIEN figure is a modified recast of the Halcyon model kit released in 1991. Significantly, the Halcyon ALIEN kit in turn is a recast of Tsukuda Hobby’s previous Jumbo Series No.2 ALIEN figure, released in 1984. That 1984 Tsukuda Hobby figure was itself a recast of the original 1979 Kenner ALIEN toy. Confused yet? Wait, it gets even more complex. For whatever unknown reason, when Tsukuda Hobby recast this figure and released it in 1995, they neglected to modify the date stamp that originally appears on the 1991 Halcyon kit. The manufacture date on the Tsukuda item will erroneously display 1991 on its right foot instead of the correct date of 1995. It has often been referred to as a 1991 Kenner ALIEN which of course is equally erroneous, although it does share a legitimate heritage with two other aforementioned figures associated with Kenner’s original ALIEN toy.

If you would like to further investigate this unusual figure made in Japan, you don’t have to go too far. Here’s a page I prepared some years back to help explain the curious history of this 17 inch tall item. Now let’s tackle the other pair of smaller human figures.

ALIEN Romulus – NECA Packages Revealed.

We’ve known for a few weeks now popular action figure maker NECA will be releasing at least two products in their long running ALIEN product linw as part of their REEL TOYS range. Today NECA revealed the package designs for both the Scorched Xenomorph and the Accessory pack with pre-orders now live from their online store. Here’s what the great folk at NECA have to say “Alien: Romulus is in theaters NOW! Celebrate the Alien: Romulus premiere with our Alien: Romulus collection, featuring the Ultimate Scorched Xenomorph Action Figure and Accessory Set. Both products are available for pre-order on the NECAStore.com and from your favorite NECA retailer!” I am hoping these items will become available here in Australia. I imagine demand for new NECA ALIEN content will be high. On top of that, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen anything based on movie content. These look great, too. I love the red framed windowed black box art. Hand ’em over.

REVIEWED – ALIEN Romulus.

I was lucky enough to be able to catch a preview screening of ALIEN Romulus here in Melbourne. Go and read my review of this eagerly anticipated movie. This is a conscientiously spoiler free review so dive in deep if you haven’t seen it yet.
ALIEN movies don’t come around often enough as far as I am concerned. This one is a good one. A little heavy handed on the fan service and boasting familiar scenarios, sure. Regardless, none of those problems stop it from being a fine space adventure worthy of the ALIEN moniker. I liked it.

ALIEN Romulus – BullAirs Custom Sneakers.

Sneaker customiser BULLAIRS, are now accepting pre-orders for their BullAlien footwear. These are custom painted, Nike Air Max 90 sneakers. These individually prepared and crafted shoes will cost US$400 per pair.
Here’s a disclaimer from the manufacturer, “ALL PRODUCTS ARE FAN ART BULLAIRS NYLLC 2024 CLAIM THE LEGAL RIGHT OF FAIR USE NO OFFICIAL TRADEMARK BRANDING OR LOGOS ARE FEATURED ON SAID PRODUCT.” Which means these are not licenced product but are nonetheless still worthy of some attention keen on some unique footwear. Which I have no problem with. I am for equally supporting independent creatives as much as I support Official product. Go pre-order yours! Pre-orders close on August 13. Well. Today some time, I guess.

We load it up with cherries and red berries for delicious, refreshing fruitiness and tangy sweet and sour flavours.” Not a big beer drinker myself but I wouldn’t mind one of these tinnies on hand, even if it were empty. Just to add to my collection of weird ALIEN goodies.

ALIEN Romulus – Rock ’em Socks.

Rock ’em Socks, a footwear manufacturer based in Orlando, Florida, will be jumping on the ALIEN Romulus bandwagon to bring us three different pairs of ALIEN Romulus themed socks. Specialising in pop culture and custom merchandise, these upcoming socks will be available from the maker soon, directly from their website. No listing is available just yet but they did share this image on facebook recently.
The socks feature three distinct designs. The classic “FREE HUGS” facehugger pattern, a blood red “XENOMORPH” design and a third pair featuring both facehuggers and xenomorphs against a hexagonal background. These socks are wild! They also appear ideal to be mixed and matched rather than worn as straight pairs. Love ’em.

eBay – Kenner ALIEN Parts for Sale.

A clutch of welcome parts for the 1979 Kenner ALIEN toy have become available recently. It would appear someone has had a full tear down of the toy. Today a left arm and pair of legs have become available. Some days back, several other parts were also listed by the same seller. The head and dorsal crest previously listed by the seller have already been sold. These quick sales can be attributed to the parts not being priced overly high. Today’s listing of a pair of legs and a left arm is no different. Here’s the links to all available parts as of this writing:

US$34.99 – Left Arm. Clean and unbroken but missing rubber anchor. Some obvious signs of wear.
US$39.99 – Both Legs. Clean and unbroken. Some signs of wear.
US$54.99 – 4x Dorsal Parts. Severed from the internal mounting plate which is needed to seat the parts correctly on one of these figures makes these parts incomplete. At least all of the external parts are present.
US$64.99 – Tail. Good clean condition. Assembly nub and tail tip spike are both present.
SOLD! – Head.
SOLD! – Dorsal Crest.

Considering these are vintage parts and demand for them is high, it’s no surprise sought after parts like the head and dorsal crest sold almost immediately. That left arm won’t be available for very long, either.
