ALIEN ReAction figures release commenced in 2013. This section of HIDEOUS PLASTIC fully documents all figures released to date with photographs, release dates and other significant details. Currently, the four Legacy movies, ALIEN, ALIENS, ALIEN 3 and ALIEN Resurrection are represented in 3.75 inch scale format and completely detailed on the pages linked to below.
The initial 2013 release of ALIEN ReAction figures was a collaboration between Super7 and Funko. They released retro-themed ALIEN action figures in the 3.75 inch range featuring classic five points of articulation. These items were originally celebrated as tributes to original Kenner ALIEN designs first created in 1979 but never released. More than three decades passed before their appearance on store shelves actually took place in this “ReAction” (retro action) figure format.
Since their release in 2013, the ALIEN figures and the entire ReAction figure line they spearheaded have become increasingly popular with a wide range of TV, movie, popular culture and cult items being represented in 3.75 ReAction figure format. The ALIEN property was there at the beginning and remains a mainstay for Super7’s ReAction product line with releases continuing to be made.

Currently, there are more than fifty figures encompassing the movies, ALIEN, ALIENS, ALIEN 3 and ALIEN Resurrection.
ALIEN ReAction figures released in 2013 to 2016 were a collaborative effort between Funko and Super7 with the partnership ceasing in 2016.
2013 – Faux 1979 Promo Sample – 2 Pack.
This first reveal of Super7’s ALIEN reaction figure line up appeared in a limited edition of 500 boxes at San Diego Comic Con in 2013.
Kane in his compression suit along with the Alien were cast in light blue. This colour choice mimics the tendency of prototype figures to be shot in similar such colours.
2013 – Early Bird Package – Pre-Order Kit.
Super7’s Early Bird Package was a convention exclusive pre-order for the first five ALIEN characters released in 3.75 inch action figure format.

2013 – Wave 1 – Early Bird – Blue Card.
This is the exclusive set of ALIEN ReAction figures mounted on blue cards sent out to purchasers of the Early Bird Package attending San Diego Comic Con in 2013.
Five figures were originally planned for this release but six are included in the pre-order set.
This set of five figures duplicates the content of the blue card items released earlier in the year at SDCC 2013, sans the convention exclusive translucent “Smoke” Alien.
This set was publicly available from stores around the world.
2014 – Deep Space Mystery Egg – Blind Box.
The Deep Space Mystery Eggs were Super7’s first set of concealed ALIEN blind box items. The set consisted of eight figures. One of each was randomly placed inside a translucent plastic egg with the purchaser not knowing the contents.
These random items were exclusively available at San Diego Comic Con, 2014.
2014 – Egg Chamber Play Sets – Blue & Black Box.
Blue box ALIEN themed play sets for ReAction figures became available for order at the San Diego Comic Con in 2014. Attendees weren’t the only people privileged to own one of these Kenner inspired items.
A black box variant was also available to order online for anyone not able to attend the event.
Another selection of characters including a pair of variant items along with a new sculpt of Kane comprised the 2nd Wave of ReAction ALIEN figures on black card.
Much like the previous black card Wave 1 ALIEN ReAction figures, these items were available globally.
2015 – Nostromo Compression Suit 3 Pack – Blue & Black Box.
Captain Dallas, executive officer Kane and navigator Lambert were released as a trio of 3.75 inch tall compression suited figures.
Each character is represented in this 3 pack by variant colorway items in their respective onscreen suits: red, yellow and blue.
The first ReAction figures based on the sequel, ALIENS featured Ripley, the power loader and the Queen Alien. They were released together in a 3 pack windowed box package.
Being the first figures based on an entirely different movie, a set of entirely new sculpts were created for the purpose.
2016 – Interstellar Bio-Sample Queen Alien – Bag.
The red spattered Queen Alien was a New York Comic Con 2016 exclusive figure. Convention attendees purchased this item in a bag featuring CAUTION warnings along with Weyland Yutani and bio-hazard logos.
The Interstellar Bio-Sample figure was the last ALIEN ReAction figure item released under the Funko Super7 collaboration.
From 2016 onwards, Super7 took charge of the product line independently and released ReAction figures with their name only badged on packaging and figures.
2016 – ALIEN Carry Case and Glow in the Dark Alien Figure.
Made from comforting blue vinyl, the pair of beige trays inside the ALIEN carry case can easily store twenty four ReAction figures.
The glow in the dark Alien was exclusively available as a bonus figure with the ALIEN ReAction figure carry case.
2017 – SPACE VILLAIN – Wave 1 – Blind Box.
The 2nd ALIEN ReAction figure blind box series featured three different variants of the Alien randomly packed into small boxes.
Blue with red spatters, translucent green and wholly black samples of the creature were randomly concealed within unidentified boxes.
2017 – SPACE VILLAIN – Wave 2 – Blind Box.
The 3rd ALIEN ReAction figure blind box series featured four different variants of the Alien.
Blue, brown, red spattered glow in the dark and translucent glitter filled amber samples of the creature were randomly concealed within unidentified boxes.
2018 – Hammerhead Prototype Tribute – Unique Card.
This item celebrates the origin of ALIEN ReAction figures. These collectible toys were originally designed more than forty years ago at Kenner Products. Kenner art staff used a 1978 Star Wars Hammerhead action figure as a base to create the first 3.75 inch concept toy of the Alien. The improvised kit-bashed figure was presented to staff at a production meeting in 1979 to discuss the further development of 3.75 inch ALIEN toys. Unfortunately, this range of toys was ultimately cancelled. They finally saw release thirty four years later as ReAction figures. This piece celebrates that origin.
2018 – Wave 3 – Blue Card (Part 1).
Exclusively available at New York Comic Con in 2018, this set of five figures features previously unreleased ALIEN characters in 3.75 inch format to complete the seven crew Nostromo line up.
The new character sculpts featured in this set of figures included Parker, Brett, and Lambert.
2018 – Wave 3 – 3 Pack Box, No.1.
ALIEN ReAction figures continued their release in a series of 3 packs in 2018.
This package item is set No.1 (of 3), containing three figures. This set features new variants of Kane, Ripley and Ash.
2018 – Wave 3 – 3 Pack Box, No.2.
ALIEN ReAction figures continued their release in a series of 3 packs in 2018.
This package item is set No.2 (of 3), containing three figures. This set features a new variant of the Alien along with new Parker and Brett sculpts.
2018 – Wave 3 – 3 Pack 3 Box, No.3.
ALIEN ReAction figures continued their release in a series of 3 packs in 2018.
This package item is set No.3 (of 3), containing three figures. This set features new variants of the ALIEN and Dallas along with a new sculpt of Lambert.
2019 – ALIEN Day – 40th Anniversary – Unique Cards.
Released on April 26 (4/26), this pair of figures duplicates the initial release of Kane in his suit and the Alien in new colorways. The cards are inspired by forty year old poster art created by famous graphics artist, Bill Gold.
2019 – Wave 3 – Blue Card (Part 2).
The 2nd set of three ALIEN figures from Wave 3 released on blue card.
This set features Captain Dallas, Ripley and the bloodied version of the alien with its tongue extended.
2019 – SPACE VILLAIN – Wave 3 – Blind Box.
The 4th ALIEN ReAction figure blind box series featured three different variants of the Alien along with a variant of Kane in his space suit.
Red, half clear and purple and green spattered black variants of the Alien along with a translucent champagne variant of Kane were randomly concealed within unidentified boxes.
A set of three xenomorphs from ALIENS comprised Wave 1, released in January. This set included Nightfall, Dusk and Midnight editions. Knows as the “Night” series.
2020 – ALIENS Wave 2&3 – Cards.
Waves 2&3 were released simultaneous a few months after Wave in May. A set of members of the rescue team sent to LV-426 in ALIENS. Marines Hicks, Hudson and Vasquez are accompanied by Ripley, Android Bishop and LV-426 sole survivor, Newt.
2021 – ALIENS Wave 4/ALIEN Day – Cards.
Along with five variants of previously released ALIEN and ALIENS figures, this set of seven items includes the first ReAction figures based on the movies, ALIEN 3 and ALIEN Resurrection.
Appearing for the first time in this product line is the Runner (Dog) Alien and the Newborn.
