For today’s vintage toy special we have found a “complete” Kenner ALIEN toy for sale on eBay. True enough, all of its parts are present and it also includes the box. What’s more, this figure is being sold for only $350. At this price, you’re getting the box for free! Bargain.There’s clearly going to be a caveat regarding this item. Maybe more than one, actually.  Firstly, let’s get the box out of the way. It’s clearly battered and mangled. It’s window is missing and it’s had its lid ripped free. At least the lid hasn’t been discarded and is present in the sale. The box is a mess for sure; but by the same token it’s still a genuine forty year old original Kenner ALIEN box. Despite its dilapidated state, it’s going to be worth upwards of US$100 if sold individually. The red insert card and poster are missing. 

Now, let’s move onto the figure proper. He’s all there. He appears to be in relatively good shape, too. The dome is original, his mouth parts are complete and his dorsal crest is mounted in place. Mind you, the crest looks as if it has been broken free at some point and some black glue/cement/putty is visible where it is reconnected to the torso. Regardless, he’s all there.

At this point in time US$350 is the going price for a complete four decades old figure like this. Many of them possess damage on the torso where the spike is mounted but such damage is often concealed in photos – it’s only the excess of bonding material here that indicates evidence of damaged on this torso of sample. Nonetheless, US$350 is what you can expect to pay for a loose, complete figure like this.  At this price, you’re getting the box for free.
