Let’s go check out some more 1979 Kenner ALIEN toys on eBay, because it’s hot today and I’m not doing anything else – besides – it’s fun! Here’s one for sale for only US$380. Yeah, that’s probably a bit much to ask for one of these old, vintage toys – especially considering it’s incomplete nature. That’s a good reason right there as to why this sample has been sitting, listed unsold on eBay for a few weeks now.
Overall, this is a nice piece but other absent parts, notably a missing dorsal crest and two absent internal mouth parts are going to devalue this item, significantly. Sure, the oft missing smoky translucent head dome is included in this listing – and the presence of that much sought after item will elevate its value – but this old toy is still very much incomplete. It might still sell at US$380; after all, what the hell do I know, Right? Realistically, though, a price tag of US$250 would be more reasonable and appropriate.
Think about that for a moment. This is a forty year old, ugly ass children’s toy. With parts missing. These old things are not even rare and it’s still considered to acceptable for a sample in this incomplete state to be worth US$250. At least. At its listed price of US$380, you can expect it to be complete. Around the US$400 mark is when you can expect a box to be included in the sale. Sure, the box will be a wreck, with windows missing and other problems present but the price this item is being offered is the level for complete figures; and entry level for one including a box – and not a price for one in an incomplete state like this.
